Location
Zagatala District is located in the northwestern part of Azerbaijan, at the foothills of the Greater Caucasus Mountains.
It is about 450 km from Baku.
The region mainly consists of mountainous and forested areas and has a mild and cool mountain climate.
History:
Zagatala has a long and ancient history – archaeological discoveries in the area date back to the 1st millennium BC.
Historically, the region was part of Kakheti, and later belonged to the Shaki Khanate.
In the 19th century, it became part of the Russian Empire.
For centuries, the town has been known as a center of trade, craftsmanship, and culture.

Zagatala is one of the greenest and most beautiful regions of Azerbaijan.
The Zagatala State Nature Reserve is located here, protecting rare species of plants and animals.
