Location
Lankaran is located in the southeastern part of Azerbaijan, on the shores of the Caspian Sea.
It is about 270 km from Baku.
Most of the district falls within the subtropical climate zone, with mild and humid weather throughout the year.
History:
Lankaran has been known since ancient times for the Lankaran Fortress and its historical neighborhoods.
In the 19th century, it was a strategic point in battles between the Russian Empire and the Qajar State.
The population mainly consists of Azerbaijanis and Talysh people, along with other ethnic groups.
