Location
Gakh District is located in the northwestern part of Azerbaijan, at the foothills of the Greater Caucasus Mountains, between Zagatala and Shaki.
It lies about 380 km from Baku.
The region mainly consists of mountainous and foothill areas and enjoys a mild, cool mountain climate.
History:
Gakh has a long and ancient history — archaeological findings in the area date back to the 1st millennium BC.
Historically, the region was part of Kakheti and later belonged to the Shaki Khanate.
Ancient settlements such as Sarıbash and Alibeyli date back to the Caucasian Albanian period, reflecting the area’s rich heritage.
